POSITION SUMMARY

Pfenex is a full-fledged, biopharmaceutical company driven by the desire to provide access to safe, effective, affordable products to market.  Reporting to the Human Resources Senior Director, the Human Resources Manager and Talent Acquisition Leader will be responsible for all Talent Acquisition strategies and full life-cycle recruiting.  Additionally, the position will work closely with the HR Director to build the HR function and support all areas of HR including performance management, leadership & professional development, compensation, employee engagement, culture and more.  Finally, the position will mentor and develop team members to ensure a cohesive and strong team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop all talent acquisition strategies including employment branding, TA processes and systems
  • Partner with HR Senior Director and senior management to drive workforce planning
  • Lead full life-cycle recruiting including sourcing, screening, interviewing and closing candidates
  • Improve hiring manager interviewing and assessment capabilities across the organization
  • Evaluate and implement technology enhancements to streamline the TA process
  • Work closely with managers and employees to provide expertise and hands on support in multiple areas including onboarding, employee relations, compensation, career development, management coaching and performance management
  • Deliver programs for managing culture and maintaining a positive, highly productive work environment
  • Actively work to establish close trust-based relationship with all management and employees

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS or equivalent years of experience in Business, Human Resources or a related field
  • PHR/SPHR Certification and/or MA/MS preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant, progressive and broad-based HR experience
  • 3+ years of full life-cycle recruiting experience
  • Knowledge of current best practices within the human resource profession in addition to federal, state and local employment-related regulations
  • Compiles, creates and analyzes reports with metrics and results as required
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed in accordance with federal, state and company/department regulations and requirements
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) required
  • Significant experience using computers and software programs (e.g., MS Office Suite; HRIS; and ATS)
